PMHA provides a rental assistance program commonly called Section 8, referring to the section of housing law which created it. Section 8 helps people with a portion of their rent to private landlords in Scioto and Lawrence Counties in Ohio.

To be eligible for a Section 8 Certificate or Voucher you must first meet strict HUD income guidelines that change periodically.

If you are eligible for a certificate you will not pay more than 30% of your annual income for rent. If you are eligible for a voucher you can pay more than 30% of your annual income if you choose to do so.

Your landlord must sign a contract with Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority and the rental property must pass HUD's Housing Quality Standards Guidelines.

PMHA will assist potential renters with a list of qualified landlords.

Section 8 is one of PMHA's most popular programs. Get your name on our wait list now for future housing.

For more information on Section 8, call and ask for our brochure at (740)354-4547.
